Lauren Luke - My Vintage Glams Pallet review

So! Here's my first beauty related post. It is going to be a review on the "My Vintage Glams" by Lauren Luke

I used to like her, a lot! I used to watch her when she wasn't even famous yet, then her videos became SO MUCH TALKING! That it annoyed me to the point were I had to unsubscribe. I hate when people are doing makeup tutorials and keep talking about their personal lives. Of course everyone has their own style, sadly her new one was not the style that I enjoy watching.
I think one of the reasons I bought this pallet was because I simply loved her. I actually began youtube because of Lauren Luke.
Let's get to the point here.

Overall I rate this pallet a 7 out of 10
  • Pros
    The eyeshadow colors are GORGEOUS!
You can do an entire face makeup with the pallet
    Super easy to blend
I love love love the primer (when is fresh -see cons*)
    Has a nice sized mirror
    Not tested in animals
Can go well in any skin tone
The blush has a very rich matte color
    Lasts all day long
    Light weight
  • Cons
    It looks cheap
Since it is an "open" pallete, there is no way you can close the gel liner, the lipglosses, nor the eyeshadow primer
-The gel liner dries SUPER fast (you can see from the pictures it was barely used before it was dry)
-The lipglosses, after dried up, if you rub them enough they should "come back to life" but still not as creamy as before
-The eyeshadow primer is very light weight when the pallet is new, after a while starts to get very very sticky and if you have oily lids, that's even worse.
The lipgloss that comes with it is SUPER sticky, for some looks is a good thing, but you don't want to wear that everyday
As a long term investment, I consider it expensive; because you only get to keep three eyeshadow and a blush, because the rest is not 100% good.
If there was the option of buying the items individually I would highly recommend buying the blush and eye shadows, also the primer if it was in an exclusive packing were it wouldn't dry or get extremely sticky.

Now more of a break down of the products:

- The primer: What I like the most is that it comes in two tones, one for brightening up the makeup look and the other one is more of a skin toned primer for more of a smokey sexy eye look. Also it really helps the eyeshadow to stay in place. Honestly I do not even use NYX jumbo pencils when wearing the LL primer.
- The gel liner: I do not remember how well it worked. It dried really, I mean REALLY fast :(
- The lipgloss: It comes with 2 options a pink-ish and a more of a brown toned color. The colors are very pretty, and very wearable to all skin tones, it does not have any taste, and gives your lips a very nice tone that will last for a reasonable period of time
- The blush: I wish they would sell it separately from this pallet. The color is super rich and deep, it stays very well in the skin when wearing a face primer. Very pigmented
- The eyeshadow: It comes with 3 eyeshadows. One is very big, so you can use as a high lighter as well! Is very light and they have a sheen with a little bit of glitter on it. My favorite is the purple one. I am in love with her eyeshadows, they are rich, pigmented, blend super easily, and it lasts!

I haven't seen these pallets at Sephora anymore, is not even showing up on their website anymore. However you can find them at : Lauren Luke's website

They cost $37 now, before I think they were $34.50.

Another thing I noticed is that it hasn't been updated in a while, so I am not sure if she still keeping up with her makeup line or not.

Here are some pictures of swatches.

Oh Vitamin D...

First of all I would like to say thank you very much for the lovely comments! I am just wodering how do I answer them? (I know I know... lol I'm a noob!) And THANK YOU! for all the followers I already have! You guys rock!

___________

Today I bought a little jar of Vitamin D3. I decided to buy it in the organic section of the supermarket. I got all my yearly blood work done, and for my surprise, my vitamin D was less than what I should normally have. Everything else was fine, only my hormones was a little off too, but that's because I suffer from Polycystic ovary disease.

So once I found out about my Vitamin D deficiency I decided to do some research and I want to share with you guys because my doctor said that almost half of the population is getting low on vitamin D. So let's try to get the word out :) Of course I am not a professional nor a nutritionist. Always talk to your doctor and please get your bloodwork done :) Is only once a year and can prevent you from so much!

Where's Vitamin D going since our own body can produce it?
I refuse to go into the sun, I hate sun! I hate heat. I have my own personal paranoia and fears of it. I never go to the beach or wear short sleeves. Since I do not get around 10 minutes of sun everyday, it contributes for my Vitamin D to be low. Also, I do not drink milk, always hated it! I already tried almond milk, soy milk, regular milk, goat milk... hate them all! I eat cheese, but not on a regular basis, and when I do is always the lowest calorie one.
I'm fat. Surprising? Not at all! Overweight people have more tendency of lacking Vitamin D. Vitamin D is extracted from the blood by fat cells, altering its release into the circulation. Not cool huh?
I do eat a lot of fish, but I think is not enough to produce the right amount of Vitamin that I need. Also, for some reason I stopped eating yogurt. I used to eat it everyday. So I got myself some yogurt and a case of "Danactive" in the supermarket.

What are the health benefits  of Vitamin D?
Vitamin D and Calcium are like "cousins" since I started doing my research . This awesome vitamin will help your bones, blood pressure, regulates insulin, boost your immune system, and a lot of diseases; such as Alzheimer's. Of course it won't prevent you 100% from developing Alzheimer, Diabetes, Cancer or Osteoporosis, but it will help along with other vitamins, and a healthy life.

Some symptons of the low Vitamin D in your system can be..
  • Constipation
  • Mood changes during PMS ( I know most of us get that, but once is not a normal mood swing it should concern you *Grab a chair and throws at my boyfriend* lol )
  • Depression
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Some of the bad symptoms like the next ones can only be detected after it is too late such as colon cancer, breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatism.

Ready to get some Vitamin D going on you, babe? ;)
10 minutes a day of sun exposure should be almost enough for your body to produce this wonderful vitamin. However, if you live in a cold place, like me, or do not like to eat certain foods, here are some options:
  • Buy a supplement from the pharmacy/supermarket. They should cost you at maximum $20 for 3 months supply!
  • Eat your dairy; butter, milk, margarine, yogurt
  • Fish, oysters, shrimp - yummmmy!
  • Soy milk
  • Some especial cereals are high in vitamin D as well!

I really hope you guys enjoy this health post.

Who am I?

Hmmm... So my friend Kristy said that I should let you guys know more about me. I am not a huge fan of talking about myself to be honest, also because I already had issues with stalkers, so the more I can hide the better.
But I will tell the basics :)

My name is Stefany and I grew up in Sao Paulo - Brazil. Is a big big city, and I love over there because it reminds me of New York City. I lived there for 15 years, but always wanted to live something different. Actually I always had the need to feel different from everybody else, and sadly only few people would approach me because of that. I guess we can say that I have always been a loner with few friends. I lost too much playing video games as well, it is a passion ♥ I am a pesctarian; meaning that I only eat fish. If you are more interested in what it is about, here is a great website http://pescetarianlife.com/ I collect toy art and anything that look monster-ish. I love hand made things, writing letters (old fashion), eating, playing with my puppy, sleeping, and snuggling.

When I moved to the US I did not speak English, which was so hard for me to talk to people. Gladly I have met wonderful individuals that helped me through High School. But I did have some funny moments, and somehow I got go get away with it. When I was on my Junior Year I accidentally pulled the fire alarm and made everyone stand in the snow for 20 minutes. However, it ended up being a good thing because the fire truck took forever to come! lol Anyways, I graduated with the best grades of my 2008 class, making me the Valedictorian :)

I always thought I would go to the Information Technology field, since I grew up in front of a computer. So I picked a school in Arizona, took me a year to be able to go. Once I was there, I realized that I don't want to spend the rest of my life in front of a screen, I already did for too long. But while I was there I found my real passion: Fashion and Makeup. I still rather do makeup than fashion, but it fascinates me.

That's when I started my youtube channel. I was so scared, but it was so worth it. I learned and still learn a lot, is just a matter of being patient and paying attention to techniques, blending, taking your time. Makeup is art, is how you can express yourself through your clothing or makeup. I can be gothic, I can be girly, I can be sexy, I can be a vampire, my skin can be blue or green, there are so many options. I can be free while doing these things.

I want to start Fashion Design this month, but I am worried that I wont have time to complete all the papers to go back to school on time. So my plan B will be do a Esthetics course until September to start fresh and new! However still January, so it worries me. I am almost 22 years old, don't wanna lose more time than I already lost.

Once I am done, hopefully I will be able to stay in the beauty industry. I don't have plans to be extremely rich or have the life of a celebrity. I just want to be able to live happily by my other half's side.

This is who I am and a little bit of my life ♥

Happy 2011 :)

Hello everyone!

Well, I used to have a blog a long time ago. But honestly I can never keep up with them. I thought the same when I started my youtube channel, however, since you start making friends it makes you want to keep on creating new things to post so people can watch.
I hope that others like my blog as much as they would like my youtube channel.

What's the blog going to be about?
Honestly, I don't know. I don't wanna keep it only makeup related. I wanted to be fun, so if you'd like to tell me what you wanna see it will def. be helpful.
One thing that I really want to do is learn how to make this blog pretty lol I sound so newbe-ish.

2011
2010 surely went by fast, it was scary to be honest. Anyways, I wish everyone the best in 2011 and that you achieve the goals that you create.
Resolutions?
I have been thinking a little bit about what I want for 2011 and here are some of the things that I want to make sure to do:
  • Go back to the gym
  • Go back to school
  • Let my hair grow
  • Keep my project 10 pan going and do not buy makeup that I don't need
  • Try my best for my relationship to continue to be successful
  • Find a better job
  • Maybe buy a camcorder
  • Treat my mother better
I think that's all that I really want for 2011...
What are your new years resolutions?!

xoxo
